Memorial Biography

Celebrating Lawrence Calvin Jackson Sr (AKA Daddy, Pops, Uncle Lawrence and Brother) born September 25, 1931 to Houston Jackson and Viola A Jackson (Garland) in Binger, Oklahoma. Lawrence held a positive and optimistic outlook regarding his health issue until he was granted his wings on July 16, 2021. Even when he was not feeling his best, he whistled a happy tune and was always well dressed and sharp.  He was one of five children siblings are Oletha Huntley (deceased), Ola Mae Sherman (deceased), Jewell Woodard (deceased) and Bernice Callendar-Neils.

Just becoming of age, Lawrence enlisted in the Army and remained active duty in Korea from November 30, 1949 to December 1, 1952. The Korean War was amongst destructive conflicts of the Modern Era.  This lead to his career in the construction industry which gave him the opportunity to travel to different places. In Lawrence's spare time, he loved riding and caring for horses. He also enjoyed taking long road trips.

Lawrence married Georgia L Blair (deceased) on November 20, 1964. Lawrence and Georgia moved to Colorado in 1965, raised five children, Brenda Johnson (Davis), Rodney Johnson, LaTonya Jackson, Lawrence Jackson and Vernon Anderson. Lawrence was an active members of a few church homes - Pilgrim Rest and Shorter AME while he resided in Colorado; Avery Chapel AME Church in Oklahoma City and a faithful servant of God. Lawrence enjoyed conversations with his family and teaching life lessons. He believed in being fair, firm and straight-forward. He was a well respected member of his community.

Lawrence is survived by the following grandchildren Phillip Brandon Davis, Jonathan Davis, Sean Davis, Lawrence Jackson III, Lashawn Jackson, Curtise Davis and Kalvin Jackson. Lawrence had several nieces and nephews - Loma Nelson, Harold Sherman, Cecil Sherman, Pat Sherman, Kenneth Alfred and Phillip Alfred (deceased).

Lawrence will be in our hearts and memories now and forever! 

Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 16, 2021 at 2:15pm Shelter C, Fort Logan National Cemetery 4400 W Kenyon Ave Denver CO 80236. The service will be streamed live on zoom by clicking this link:
